Brammo Empulse officially unveiled - Click above to watch video after the jump
While most of the electric race bikes in attendance at the FIM e-Power Laguna Seca event this weekend were parked in the paddocks stressing about achieving their peak performance abilities on Sunday afternoon, one motorcycle sat patiently in the e-Power pits seemingly without a care in the world. Surrounded by a busy bevy of Brammo-branded beauties, the freshly debuted EmpulseRR stood as both a symbol of the importance to Brammo of its racing effort, and as an enticement for interest in the consumer Empulse model on which it is based. Nice, but it wasn't supposed to be quite this way.
Preparing over the previous eight weeks, the intent had been to bring a strong competitor and make a successful showing on the track. It went the way of other best laid plans however, going astray when the RR suffered from the failure of a crucial custom component just as bets were being made on (and possibly against) its chances of finishing in top spot. Its special 12 kWh pack and other assorted racing-duty bits may not have to remain untested for long though. CEO Craig Bramscher tweeted that "we will go racing this year," which most likely means we may see the new machine in action at the TTXGP race in Virginia in a few weeks. While we wait for our next opportunity to see the EmpulseRR, we'll have to be content ourselves with watching the official unveiling of the consumer Empulse model with its moving images of the Brammo babe brigade that waits us after the jump.
