Clean Green Kitchen Rehab in Twin Cities
Clean Green Kitchen Rehab in Twin Cities
Joshua Foss, principal of Thrive Design Studio and ambassador for the Living Building Challenge, recently completed this clean and contemporary kitchen renovation in a home near Theodore Wirth Park. Foss and the owners went with a color palette that, in the end, resembles nature in many ways. The light blue walls resemble water or clear blue skies, the steel and aluminum mimic smooth stones, and the cabinets and floors ground the space with wood.
The custom renovation features a good amount of Plyboo bamboo in the Neopolitan finish. The countertop is ECO by Cosentino, which is made with 75% post-consumer recycled content and carries Cradle to Cradle certification.
Speaking of the finished space, Foss said in a blog post, "I’m sure you won’t argue with me when I say that the Plyboo steal the show… it certainly draws a lot of attention!"
Foss also incorporated Energy Star appliances and LEDs from Environmental Lights. And the rest of the space is completed with a custom table made with locally sourced wood, Knicker chairs from Blu Dot, and a low-VOC Harmony paint from Sherwin Williams.
